I’d like to turn your attention to the concept of shading using Jennifer Lopez’s eye makeup:
She’s got massive amounts of shading (where a dark color is used in the creases of the eyes to make them seem deeper set) going on here. The closeup:
There is no real rule of thumb here as to how much shading is too much–it’s really just a personal preference. This is just a smidge too much for me, for example. Nevertheless, I feel this picture is important because it shows what shading can really do. Look how much her eyes seem to recede here. That’s all shading.
To do: Dust a shadow-y shade in the creases of your eyes and blend up slightly. You can play around with the amount–you don’t have to go as heavy as Jennifer Lopez did here. It’s an easy step to forget but it really makes your eye look finished. So key.
Do you incorporate shading into your eye looks? Think this is too much on Jennifer Lopez here? Confused about how to pick the right colors? Comment below!
